REACH: the undergraduate research program at SIUC

Welcome to REACH.

This competitive program, open to all disciplines, offers 20 grant awards each year to students working on an independent research project with a faculty mentor. REACH also sponsors the University's annual Undergraduate Research Forum, held in late March or early April, in which students present posters describing their research projects. We also publicize and promote other undergraduate research opportunities (see below) via this web site, by producing an informational brochure, and by publishing an annual tabloid describing some of SIUC's many undergraduate research accomplishments and awards over the past year.

On this site:

Undergraduates are integral to research at SIUC. Besides earning REACH awards, they take part by participating in SIUC's Research Rookies program, McNair Scholars program, or University Honors program; working as undergraduate research assistants; doing special class projects; taking independent-research credit hours; winning on- or off-campus research internships; and more.

Why do research? Through research, many undergrads at SIUC are gaining invaluable experience for the future, whatever their discipline. We invite you to join them.

Congratulations...

He is one of just 60 undergraduates chosen nationally to present his research, which deals with peregrine falcons and how they move and disperse after their birth—information key to conservation efforts.
